About the Website
This is more of a personal story, but it should explain the begining of the website and the transitions there after. To start off my name is Cameron Munroe and I live in Paso Robles. My dad went on a Volunteer kick and pushed me to go into it as well. So I of course didn’t want to per say volunteer with him. So I went to the another volunteer organization, which was the Paso Robles Historical Society and that is where we start the story.
I went down to the Historical Society that day with a proposition to build them a website. Paula and I agreed on this move and I set out building the site on Google Sites for easy collaboration, and because it was free. The main goal of the website at this time was to give information on the date of opening for the Carnegie library as it still was being retrofitted and repaired from the earthquake. When I built the website at that time it was very plain and simple just like the inside of the Library at that time. In any case Paula had to leave for family matters which left me with no connect to the Historical Society.
About a year later I was in my history class at North County Cuesta College listening to the first days ramblings from the teachers, but this particular teacher had an odd passion and emphasis when he spoke of the Historical Society, when he later and proudly slipped to the class that he was the president. In any case I came up to him after class, and stated to him. I am the owner of the Paso Robles Historical Society website. He of course was overjoyed to finally have that issue resolved and got me in contact with Sherry Golightly. Sherry and I then set forth updating the website and adding some minutes. (note: We are still on version 1.) Finally things got to a norm and we finally slowed down on the changes for the website.
In Aug. of 2011 I finally started having it with the limitations of Google Sites and sent out for a whole new platform. This new Second version of the website was rebuilt from scratch to allow for easier and better expansion for the Historical Society’s website. In this transition we also did a slight name transition adding …”area”… to our name. This transition was to spread the Historical Society out of its confines of Paso Robles. Version 2 was finally released in Oct. of 2011 and was a great upgrade from our old website.

In Early 2012 I began looking to rebuild the website again for a new more sleek look, and a better management system for the website. In the end I was able to do both which now leads us to our brand new site V. 3. Also with the V. 3 we added a new domain name www.pasoroblesareahistoricalsociety.org. Don’t worry though the old one will still be up and go to the exact same content. This is just keeping up with the new name scheme.
In any case, as the the Historical Society filled up the Carnegie library, so did the website. We all hope you enjoy the new theme of the website and have a great day, don’t forget to come down and visit.
